Welcome

Welcome to the PostureJac blog.     This is an interactive forum for readers who have some desire to understand the importance of alignment for good body function.   The PostureJac is a new approach to posture correction.     It works on the principle that upward mobility, the ability to lift yourself back up or push yourself up against that invisible ceiling to your maximum height is a mechanism you can learn and a habit that can form.

It is clear that even subtle mis-alignment has a profound effect on body mechanics and muscle development.    Faulty alignment is closely tied to upper and lower back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain.   Being in this arena exposes us to a huge amount of material that does that better than we do and would obscure our purpose.     It’s easy to do a  search and find millions of hits for all your information.

My journey  to understanding the importance of posture leads me to a simple conclusion.   Posture is to body mechanics what nutrition is to body organics.        This is simply drawing a parallel between the essential nature of good alignment and the essential nature of good nutrition because most people are aware of the link between proper diet and good health.

Different things motivate us to change our diets.    Perhaps you carefully choose your diet to feel good, look good, maximize your performance, avoid toxic buildup of carcinogens, or to control your weight.      I suspect a great majority of us react when the alarm bells go off.    Pain  and discomfort is a common alarm bell.     When faced with sickness, chronic pain or physical limitations that could cost thousands for treatment and medication and threaten our lifestyle, we are motivated to change.     Or you may be motivated to change your appearance and image, or just to make your clothes fit better.

So it is with posture and alignment.     There are so many great reasons for you to maintain your original shape and healthy center of gravity -  for similar reasons to good diet.     However if you haven’t thought about it until now, begin the road to correction.      Depending on the extent of the damage, you may not achieve total reversal, but changing lanes to the road to recovery is a good thing.

Please browse our articles and watch us grow.   Consider the PostureJac as a tool that is easy to include in your life to stretch, strengthen and condition,  correcting  your sense of what “normal posture” feels like.    If you have poor posture, you likely were not born with it and you need to return to the alignment you had when you took your first steps.

In our ideal model a trained professional; physical therapist, osteopath, chiropractor, personal trainer, massage therapist, etc., would identify, fit and coach you to change your body mechanics.    Some of our material is geared to the professional – like the in depth coverage of the exercises (an excerpt from Dr. Makofsky’s textbook).

If you have a question, email us at postureblog@posturejac.com and we may post the response.     If you wish to respond to our postings, please register and make your comments.   Visit our main website at www.posturejac.com to purchase your own personal PostureJac.    It might just save you enough money -  on pain medications and extra therapy treatment – to pay for itself very quickly.
